Group Dining & Events

Our Lounge is the perfect place for group dining. It comfortably accommodates up to 20 people for a sit down meal. Our Three Course Group Dining Menu is priced at £60 per person. We would be delighted to discuss your requirements and you are most welcome to come and view our venue at your convenience. With our wonderful rural setting overlooking the village green, and the stylish yet relaxed ambience in the restaurant and bar, it is the perfect backdrop for your event.

An Al Fresco table alternative is available on our Terrace (weather permitting).  Please, contact us for more details.

Please note: due to busy service periods, the Dining Room and Terrace are not available for private hire on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays.

Garden Benches

Our garden is open during the summer months, subject to weather conditions. Garden benches can be reserved online, while additional seating at the front of The Chequers is available on a first come, first served basis.

All guests visiting the garden are kindly asked to enter through the main entrance and check in with a member of our team at reception before taking a seat.

To ensure everyone enjoys their visit, we kindly ask that all guests follow the signage displayed throughout the garden, including guidance relating to our designated smoking area and other important information.

Children are very welcome but must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. For their safety and the comfort of other guests, climbing on trees, fences, walls, furniture or other structures is not permitted. Ball games, cycling, scooters and similar activities are also not allowed within the garden. If the little ones would like a little more space to run around and play, the green is located just across the road and provides the perfect open space for more active fun.

During weekends and Bank Holidays, table service is available throughout the garden. Guests are also welcome to order food and drinks using our online ordering service by scanning the QR code displayed on each bench.

You’re more than welcome to bring your own celebration cake and decorations, and there is no charge for doing so.

Celebration cakes will be served after desserts have been cleared.

Balloons and table decorations are welcome; however, wall or hanging banners, table confetti and party poppers are not permitted.

We have a smart dress code at The Chequers in the evenings. No flip flops, no sportswear, no baseball cups.

Please note that, after 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays, The Chequers operates a no children under the age of 12 policy, including babies and infants.

Children of all ages are very welcome to visit us at all other times.

If you require a high chair or a space for pram, please let us know when making your reservation or contact the restaurant in advance. This helps us ensure one is available and ready for your arrival.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the bar area, benches at the front of The Chequers, and in our garden. For the comfort of all our guests, we kindly ask that dogs are kept on a lead at all times.

Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted in the restaurant or on the terrace.

If you are planning to dine with your dog, we recommend calling us in advance to check availability in the bar area.

It is against the law to smoke in these premises. Out of respect to other customers, smoking is also not permitted on our terraces and garden benches. This also applies to e-cigarettes. A designated smoking area is available at the front of The Chequers or on designated benches in the garden.

A deposit of £10 per person will be required for tables of 6 or more people to secure the reservation and will be charged at the time of booking. The deposit amount comes off your final bill. All deposit payments are non-refundable in the event of a cancellation or a no-show.

We accept cash, American Express, Mastercard, Visa, Google Pay, Apple Pay and contactless. Sorry, we don’t accept cheques.

Our discretionary 12.5% service charge is shared in full amongst the team, including both front of house and kitchen staff, as recognition of the hard work that goes into looking after our guests and delivering the experience we aim for. Of course, it remains discretionary and guests are welcome to speak with a member of the team if they have any questions.

We have a car park for up to 30 cars. There is no charge for parking. Additional parking is available off-road.

Our front entrance, the bar, disabled bathroom and dining room are all on one level. Although the terrace and some parts of the garden are difficult to navigate, please do call ahead so we can make your visit as hassle free as possible.

If you think you’ve lost an item during your visit, please get in touch with us by telephone or email. A member of our management team will be happy to check whether your item has been found and confirm if it is being safely kept for you.

To help us manage lost property, we are only able to store found items for a maximum of 1 month. Unfortunately, any unclaimed items after this time may be donated, recycled or responsibly disposed of.

We always do our best to look after any items handed in and help reunite them with their owners. However, personal belongings are left on our premises at the owner’s own risk, and we cannot accept liability for items that are lost, stolen or damaged.

For the safety and security of our guests, staff and premises, CCTV operates throughout selected areas of The Chequers, including external areas.

Images are recorded for the purposes of crime prevention, public safety, protecting property and assisting with the investigation of incidents where necessary. CCTV footage is processed in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and is only accessed by authorised personnel or shared with law enforcement and other authorised bodies where legally required.

By entering our premises, you acknowledge that CCTV recording may be in operation.

The Chequers is committed to promoting the responsible sale and consumption of alcohol in accordance with UK licensing laws.

We operate a Challenge 25 policy. If you are fortunate enough to look under the age of 25, you may be asked to provide valid photographic identification before alcohol is served. Accepted forms of ID include a passport, UK driving licence or a PASS-accredited proof of age card.

It is an offence to purchase alcohol on behalf of anyone under the age of 18. We reserve the right to refuse the sale or service of alcohol where we believe this may be taking place.

We also reserve the right to refuse the sale or service of alcohol to anyone who appears to be intoxicated or whose behaviour may cause concern for the safety, comfort or enjoyment of our guests and team members.
