We love Christmas here at The Chequers. We pride ourselves on a great festive atmosphere and presenting traditional Christmas food with a touch of flair. Book now and share the festive season with us. This year we are offering a range of ways to celebrate the festive season.

Come and watch the Essex horse and hounds parade set off from the Green on their annual Boxing Day meet. It is always a popular spectacle! The parade usually comes through between 10 and 11am. Tables are available to book for Breakfast at 9.30am or 11am. We will be offering our Breakfast menu on both sittings priced at £21.50pp. Refreshments, such as coffee and tea, sausage or bacon baps will be available from out outside Garden Bar on the day.

Join us for a relaxing meal, perfect post-Christmas opportunity to relax and unwind with friends or family. Our 3 course set menu is priced at £65 per person. Children under age of 12 – £25 per person. We are open from 12pm for two lunch sittings 12.30pm or 3/3.30pm. The restaurant will close at 6pm.

New Year’s Eve

Our popular New Year’s Eve dinner and dance is back and this year with Leah Sanderson and Tom Huttlestone. Always a great atmosphere and excellent food. Enjoy a glass of Prosecco on arrival, followed by a three course dinner before moving onto a selection of great party music, perfect for dancing the night away. It will definitely be a night to remember!
Booking Policy: Arrival Time is from 7pm. Reservation is required. Non-refundable deposit of £50 per person will be required at the time of booking. A 12.5% discretionary service charge will be added to the bill. Please note, this event is for over 18’s only! The evening finishes at 1am. Menus are subject to change without a prior notice. New Year’s Day

The Chequers will be open from 12pm until 6pm. Last food orders will be at 3.30pm. Our main restaurant menu including roasts will be available on the day (‘Steak’ section will not be available). Tables are available to book for one of our 2 sittings.
