Join us for a weekday lunch and savour our fantastic menu featuring seasonal dishes crafted by our chefs. Our mid-week lunch menu offers great value and is ideal for a relaxing afternoon in the Essex countryside. With multiple choices for each course, including vegetarian options, there’s something to satisfy every taste and appetite! Available Wednesday to Friday from 12.30pm until 4pm.

Quiz Night

The Chequers are excited to announce our very first quiz night will be taking place on Wednesday, 20th of November from 8pm to 9.30pm. Join us for an evening of fun, food and drinks and allow our expert quizmaster to test your general knowledge.
Our cosy back terrace will be set up for teams of up to 8 people, perfect for a lively night of competition and laughs! Bring your A game and test your knowledge across a broad range of subjects, with the winning team enjoying a bottle of Prosecco as first prize.
Entry fee is £2.00 per person (CASH only) which will support a charity to be nominated on the night. Our main menu will be available for those wishing to eat before the quiz begins. Alternatively, our bar menu and table service will be available throughout the night.

Come and join us with your family and friends and get yourselves in the festive spirit with a welcome glass of prosecco. Our fully trained florists will provide you with an evening of festive fun, guiding you through every step to make your very own luxury bespoke Christmas wreath to take home and grace your door.

You will start with a traditional moss-based wreath and have a selection of Fresh Seasonal foliage’s to create your own unique wreath. We have a wide selection of Dried fruits, Cinnamon sticks, pinecones, baubles, ribbons and much more! This event is run by Christmas Creations and held at The Chequers Matching Green.

New Year’s Eve

Our popular Black Tie New Year’s Eve dinner is back and this year with DJ Connie and is always a great way to usher in the new year. Always a great atmosphere and excellent food. Enjoy a glass of Prosecco on arrival, followed by a three course dinner before moving onto a selection of great party music, perfect for dancing the night away. It will definitely be a night to remember!

Car Show

July 2025

Come and feast your eyes on some beautiful motor cars. A fantastic car show set on the Cricket Green, always a very large turn out of classic cars, trucks, bikes, military, commercials, customs, hot-rod and all that goes with it. An enjoyable day out for all the family. The Car Shows starts at 11am and finishes at 4pm.
Table reservation is required if you wish to dine in the restaurant or on the terrace. The a la carte menu and roasts will be available in the restaurant and on the terrace. Bench menu will be available from our Garden Bar at the front of The Chequers.
